Gotee Records announced the newest addition to their roster with the signing of Aaron Cole and his debut single, Right On Time, featuring Gotee founder TobyMac. As a label that takes special interest in developing young artists into honing their craft, Gotee Records has been working with Cole over the past two years and is ready to share his music with the world.
The music video for his label debut is premiering today, and the digital single will be available tomorrow, September 29th, click here. "Right On Time" is also debuting at Christian Hot AC radio this week at No. 27 on the charts and as the No. 1 most added and the highest spin increase of the week.
"It’s been a long time since Gotee has signed a hip-hop/R&B artist," shares TobyMac. "Honestly, I’ve just been waiting for the right person. And I'm really excited to say....we've finally found that artist in Aaron Cole. He is extremely gifted, dedicated to his craft and truly passionate about God. Aaron is READY, ready to use his gift of music to light it up in a way that only he can, and the timing is perfect."
Jeff Stice is excited to take the Gospel to the people of Japan. As a part of the Hope Music Festival, Jeff will participate in an event that is meant to draw people together through the magic of music in hopes that Christianity can be shared to those in attendance.
"Pastor Yurika Mitsui and his family reached out to me some time ago after I had met them at Louisiana Baptist University where I had performed at their Alumni breakfast,” mentioned Jeff Stice. "They asked if I would come and be a part of the event, and I quickly replied ‘Arigato’ (which means ‘Thank you’ in Japanese).”
Jeff and his wife will travel to Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, October 5, 2017 and return to the United States on the following Thursday, October 12, 2017. The Hope Music Festival will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Tokyo.
"Stacey and I are both excited and a bit nervous. Other than two or three words, we have no clue how to communicate with the people of Japan. They say music is the universal language, so I’m going to rely on that,” mentioned Jeff. "Only 2% of the country know anything about Christianity. I don’t believe this opportunity just happened. There is a divine reason, and we’re praying God will just use us so that He will get the glory from it.”
Les Beasley, was honored for his lifetime of contributions to Gospel Music during NQC's 60th Anniversary. The presentation occurred Saturday, September 30, 2017.
It's a sad truth that the more you dig into the inner-workings of the music industry - even the "Christian" music industry - and the more time you spend working within it, the more stories you are likely to hear like this one about KJ-52's 2014 Mental being unlawfully distributed by a former manager.
Sunday, KJ sent out a letter to friends, exposing the ugly story behind the album involving misuse of the rights to the songs and withheld profits, urging readers not to buy a fake copy of the album and to spread the word about it.
In late November 2013 I signed a 3 year deal memo with my then manager to release the mental album.. after about a year or so I realized some things weren’t adding up ..mainly in the $ and royalty dept... no one had received any payouts and no accounting for the expenses had been issued.
I realized the album had made a reasonable amount of money via digital & physical sales & was told that album was “unrecouped” ...but the one statement I received from music services spoke to the opposite.
I decided to end our working relationship when the agreement came to an end in November 2016 and go fully independent... rather than pursuing legal action I trusted the fans to support like they always had .. & they did! The Jonah album was funded 200% in December!
The mental album however was still being distributed digitally thru Gotee after the deal had expired.. learning that multiple artists had been cut out of the songwriting royalties (social club/Tedashi/KB etc) and had never been paid I requested that they remove it from all digital services (iTunes/Spotify/amazon etc), after explaining all this to them Gotee swiftly complied and removed it.
I hold the copyrights to those songs and so I re-uploaded the songs and put it back out in an attempt to make things right financially with my friends that helped out with record... this is the 52 records version that is up currently.
Recently my former manager re-uploaded another version w/ incorrect but similar artwork/misspelled artist names & a random instrumental .. this is the TPC version .. this version will put 0 $ in the artist pockets + has been done past the expiration date of our deal memo.
I’m currently working on getting this pulled but it’s an arduous & long process as there is a ton of digital platforms..
What can u do to help?
Don’t buy/stream or solicit that version
Leave a review on iTunes that it’s unauthorized version & to not purchase it
Share this blog post
Support crowdfunding.. that $ goes directly to the artist & in this case my documentary coming up (the Jonah movie) here: http://kck.st/2uV4X0z
Pray for this situation.. it sucks and I’m super frustrated and burnt out about it but I belive in Justice not Vengeance.
Repurchase/stream/play the correct one if you feel so led..
Here’s the track listing of the incorrect one u can see it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mental/id1279383884. (It’s the same on any digital music format)
